Hi,

The Xen-Orchestra team where trying to implement a system that allowed you =
to add attached pci devices to any VM that the host can use. Normally this=
 is done by using LSPCI to get the PCI ID and then passing this through to =
a VM using the xe other config command. Now, as far as XO can determine, t=
he pci.get_all_records() should get a list of all pci devices attached to t=
he host, but instead is simply lists only any attached gpu and not the rest=
 of the devices such as USB, other pci devices etc. Is pci.get_all_records=
() the right api command to list all devices attached to the host, or is th=
ere no way to do what LSPCI does from the console using XenAPI?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi there,

Can anyone give me a hint on what would be best practice to integrate
xen/xcp and ceph? (Especially considering high-available solutions.)

I had a go at installing the old experimental tech-preview from David Scott
but that's nothing someone should use in production.

http://xenserver.org/discuss-virtualization/virtualization-blog/entry/tech-p
review-of-xenserver-libvirt-ceph.html

I seen Florian Heigls "Xen Ceph Support" Script at github, but didn't have a
go at it yet, doesn't seem production ready, too.

Is the only (stable) way at the moment to use tgt/ceph so Xen connects via
iscsi?

Best Regards

Martin Herrholz

Hi.
I'm working on a malware detecting system which need to revert and resume =
VM from checkpoint frequently. This error occured when resuming a VM which =
is just reverted.
Internal error: File "xapi_xenops.ml"=2C line 2093=2C characters 3-9: Asser=
tion failed
I couldn't find useful info in xensource.log or audit.log. How can I determ=
ine whether it's a problem in my code or in XenServer?It's running on XenSe=
rver 6.5 via C API.=20
Thanks 		 	   		  =

Try to start/stop it manually via the API to troubleshoot.

I'm also using xenserver for malware processing purposes. One guy recently
commited a new cuckoo xenserver machinery that does all of that
starting/stopping process. It might be handy for you:

Thx for the reply.
I did try your methods.And still got the same internal error. Here is the
code after adding start/stop routine

if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_revert(session, task.target_vm->current_snapshot->ref)){res =
1;break;}
if (!xen_vm_resume(session, task.target_vm->vm, false, true)){res=2;}
if (res==2){
xen_session_clear_error(session);
if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_start(session,
task.target_vm->vm,false,true)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
}
if (!xen_vm_revert(session, task.target_vm->current_snapshot->ref)){res =
1;break;}
if (!xen_vm_resume(session, task.target_vm->vm, false, true)){res=2;break;}

Did I do something wrong?
PS: I failed to find any error-raiseing code in xapi_xenops.ml:Line 2093 on
the master branch in Github. How can I find out which version(commit) of
the XAPI source code is corresponding to the one running on my Xenserver?

Thanks any.

Thx for the reply.
I did try your methods.And still got the same internal error. Here is the
code after adding start/stop routine

if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_revert(session, task.target_vm->current_snapshot->ref)){res =
1;break;}
if (!xen_vm_resume(session, task.target_vm->vm, false, true)){res=2;}
if (res==2){
xen_session_clear_error(session);
if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_start(session,
task.target_vm->vm,false,true)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
if (!xen_vm_hard_shutdown(session,
task.target_vm->vm)){xen_session_clear_error(session);}
}
if (!xen_vm_revert(session, task.target_vm->current_snapshot->ref)){res =
1;break;}
if (!xen_vm_resume(session, task.target_vm->vm, false, true)){res=2;break;}

Did I do something wrong?
PS: I failed to find any error-raiseing code in xapi_xenops.ml:Line 2093 on
the master branch in Github. How can I find out which version(commit) of
the XAPI source code is corresponding to the one running on my Xenserver?

Thanks any.

The code can be found by way of here: https://github.com/xenserver/xen-api/releases

going to the XS65 release tag gets us here:
https://github.com/xenserver/xen-api/blob/3e4e56e61ee5eb107c4087f6b7cbb9ef9242d1bc/ocaml/xapi/xapi_xenops.ml#L2093

which is unfortunately a bit unhelpful. The upshot is that the VM has
probably died very quickly after resuming. Any idea why that might happen?
