Hi everybody,

after the initial positive community review of the
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Mirage_Incubation_Project_Proposal, it is time
to have a formal vote.

Who can vote?
- Project leads of Mature Xen.org projects
- Committers of Mature Xen.org projects
- Others can register their vote in support of the project, but the vote
is not binding.

How to vote?
- Vote via the voting form at
http://xen.org/polls/mirage_incubation_proposal.html

Deadline?
- Friday Feb 15th, 23:55 GMT
- Or before Feb 15th (i.e. when all eligible community members have cast
their vote)

What happens next?
If accepted, I will work with the Mirage project lead on a detailed plan
for the Incubation phase.

Best Regards
Lars

*********************
* Xen Document Days *
*********************

We have another Xen document day come up next Monday. Xen Document Days
are for people who care about Xen Documentation and want to improve it.
We introduced Documentation Days, because working on documentation in
parallel with like minded-people, is just more fun than working alone!
Everybody who can contribute is welcome to join!

For a list of items that need work, check out the community maintained
TODO list (http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Document_Days/TODO). Of course,
you can work on anything you like: the list just provides suggestions.

How do I participate?
=====================

- Join us on IRC: freenode channel #xendocs
- Tell people what you intend to work on (to avoid doing something
somebody else is already working on)
- Fix some documentation
- Help others
- And above all: have fun!

Hi everybody,

sorry for the delay in posting the vote results for
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Mirage_Incubation_Project_Proposal.

The vote breakdown:
- 6 out of 7 Xen committers voted (including project leads)
- 5 were in favour
- 1 abstained due to the "choice of the ISC licence rather than a
copyleft licence such as LGPLv2+"

So overall the vote carries.

We also several other community members voting in support of the
proposal. We also discussed the proposal at the last Xen Maintainer,
Committer and Developer Meeting, which expressed support for the proposal.

What happens next?
I will work with the Mirage project lead on a detailed plan for the
Incubation phase.

Best Regards
Lars

Hi all

Just a quick reminder that today is Xen documentation day! Join us on
freenode #xendocs to improve Xen documentation!

*********************
* Xen Document Days *

=====================

- Join us on IRC: freenode channel #xendocs
- Tell people what you intend to work on (to avoid doing something
somebody else is already working on)
- Fix some documentation
- Help others
- And above all: have fun!

Wei.

No. We remind people of the Xen Docsday one week before. And we also
send another email when it is happening. :-)

Hello PV Xen-ARM developers,

I have a few questions about the PV Xen on ARM project, its development sta=
te, and future plans.

I know that there is active development on the upstream version of Xen but =
to my understanding, this covers primarily PVH support and thus requires an=
ARM processor with hardware virtualization extensions. However, I am inter=
ested in experimenting with Xen on ARM with recent devices without these ex=
tensions - which leads me to PV Xen on ARM.

On your wiki pages you refer to two different GIT repositories where the la=
st commits are more than a year ago. This let me assume that the PV Xen on =
ARM work is frozen.

As I saw that the newer repository is based on a Xen 4.2 development versio=
n (according to the READMEs) and the other on Xen 3.0. I guess that there w=
as effort ongoing in porting PV Xen on ARM work to a newer Xen base at last=
. It also seems to be that MiniOS on ARM is not ported yet to the newer cod=
e base.

Now my questions:

* What is the current and future development plan of PV Xen on ARM? I guess=
that this work will not go upstream Xen soon and maybe never.

* Are there also patches available (or included in the repositories) to bui=
ld a Linux kernel for PV Xen on ARM (as Dom0 and DomU)?

Thanks,

Simon

Thanks,

Simon

Hi,

Even I am interested with the same.

As far as I know, PV on Xen-ARM for Cortex-A8 is available for testing on
ARM Fast Model Emulators.

But It has been months since we heard any news about it.

PV on Xen-ARM for Cortex-A9 is already available for Tegra 2 Harmony.

Even I would like to learn and get some answers from you guys, to the
questions posted by Simon Sturm.

Hi,

I need to correct the results and apologize for a mistake I made : I
should have double checked the process before sending out the request
for voting.

http://www.xen.org/projects/governance.html says*"Voting:* The community
manager arranges a timed private vote as outlined above (voting should
be open for a minimum of a week). Any maintainer of a mature project and
the Xen.org community manager is allowed to vote. Voting follows the
conventions as laid out in 'Principle: Consensus Decision Making'."

This means that:
a) I miscommunicated who is elgible to vote : which are project leads,
committers and maintainers of mature projects, as well as the community
manager.
b) I tallied wrongly

I am summarizing the results again: the following people who fit the
criteria in a) can vote. Note that XCP does not have a defined list of
maintainers and committers, thus only the vote of the XCP's project lead
- Mike McClurg - counts. Eligible votes came from:

Ian Campbell
Mike McClurg
Jan Beulich
Lars Kurth
Tim Deegan
Ian Jackson

5 in favour, 1 abstained.

If no committer challenges by Friday, the vote will carry.

Regards
Lars
