I recently upgraded my dom0 kernel from 5.15.26 to 5.15.32 and with the new kernel, OPNSense had no connectivity. I downloaded from kernel.org 5.15.26-32, built and installed each version and booted them consecutively until I found the version that no longer worked. It turned out to be 5.15.29. I looked through the change log of 5.15.29 and found two commits for xen-netback commit 2708ceb4e5cc84ef179bad25a2d7890573ef78be commit fe39ab30dcc204e321c2670cc1cf55904af35d01 I reverted these changes in 5.15.32 to the code as it was in 5.15.28, built and installed. Now the network works. Now I dont know enough to know thats for sure the right fix. Maybe I have a config issue, I dont know, but reverting that change fixes the problem. What should I do? The other terminal-related one I always wondered about was if it could be possible to remap "magic sysrq" (ctrl-o on Xen console). This is all very well in dom0's console, but in guests I have users that persist in using nano editor where ctrl-o is save file! So they hit ctrl-o expecting to save the buffer, but seemingly nothing happens (Xen is waiting for the magic sysrq command), so they try ctrl-o again which comes across as magic sysrq command 'o' - immediate power off! So in guests, if ctrl-o can't be remapped I'd quite like to disable it I think. Other interesting console-related things that I think are already possible but I lack knowledge in how to do it and would appreciate some tips from anyone who does: - Is it possible to log all console content for a guest without interfering with the ability to start / use "xl console"? - Has anyone ever plumbed a guest's console through to a web terminal setup like xterm.js? Full disclosure:  I'm running the 4.16.1-1 package from Arch Linux's AUR.   It includes a patch from OpenSUSE to allow it to compile on GCC 12.1, which is mostly suppressing errors. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 15) It runs well under 4.16.0, so I've backrev'ed to that in the meantime.  The same package also works on another, somewhat older AMD machine.  It is entirely possible that moving to newer gcc has something to do with it, but the fact that the dom0 dmesg suggests iov might have something to do with it suggests that I should at least ask about it.   I am normally using the SR-IOV functions of the card, but that's set up by the dom0 and that hasn't happened yet (obviously) by the time it crashes.   Also, I have tried it without dom0=pvh and the failure is the same. dmesg follows.   Thanks! I've just installed the package xen-system-amd64 and xen-tools and tried to boot the xen kernel with a 5.4 dom0 kernel. It hangs on boot, think before booting dom0.
