I got it solved by adding the following rule to state the dependency: $(LIBUUID_SRC)/%.h: $(LIBUUID_BUILD)/.origin @# empty recipe to enforce dependency to archive extractionAt this point I have no clue why this only works with a filled-out recipe, even if it is non-sense.
