I agree that it would be nice to have somebody on the west coast
subscribed to this list.

Subject: [Advisory-board] Request for AB members (or
delegates) to join
publicity@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Â
Dear
Advisory Board members,
as part of the Xen 4.3 release we had quite a bit of media
interest. The Xen
Project has a public mailing list to ...
to
coordinate content for the
Xen Project blog, articles in the open source and Linux
press, other media, press
activities, to coordinate attendance and submissions for
open source and
industry events and anything else to promote the Xen
Project. The list is open
for people in the community who care about promoting the Xen
Project. The list
is also archived.
Right
now, the publicity list
membership is quite developer and thus EU centric. As a
consequence, we have
been struggling with requests for interviews (on short notice
and deadlines).
In particular those that came in late at night.
Also, looking at the current list membership, you notice thatr
mostly Citrix
staff are signed up to the list. The consequence has been that
Citrix staff are
being quoted more frequently in press articles than members of
other companies.
Related to that, authors of articles on blog.xenproject.org
have been
frequently quoted in Xen related articles. This is a reminder
to advisory board
members that the Xen Project Blog is open to ANY community
member and that we
coordinate and review stories on publicity@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
To get the benefit of
visibility, you need to step up though.
In the interest of fairness to member companies getting
airtime (and publicity)
on behalf of the Xen Project, it would be good if we could
diversify the list
membership as well as the blog authorship. In particular, it
would be
fantastic, if we could get a few key people outside of the EU
onto the list.
Could I ask you to look into this? Related to the blog, it has
taken quite a
bit of my time to coach engineers into representing the Xen
Project publicly. I
would be quite happy to help and mentor anybody you may want
to propose.Â
To sign up to the list, paste the following link into your
browser: mailto:publicity-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe,
send an email with subject
"subscribe" to publicity-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
or just ask me to sign you
up.
In terms of list volume, there tends to be more activity
around releases and
there are weekly pings on coordinating and reviewing blog
content. The Xen
Project blog is coordinated by Dario Faggioli, who stepped up
as a volunteer
when the question arose.
Best Regards
Lars
