[Xen-bugs] [Bug 372] New: Dom0 reboots instantly when accessing SCSI DLT tape drive

http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=372

Summary: Dom0 reboots instantly when accessing SCSI DLT tape
                    drive
           Product: Xen
           Version: unstable
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux-2.6
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Hardware Support
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: nospam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm having a problem where whenever the bacula software attempts to communicate
with my DLT drive through an Adaptec AHA-2944UW SCSI controller under a Linux
2.6.12.6-xen0 system, the entire system instantly reboots. If any errors are
displayed, it reboots too fast for me to see them. If I boot to a non-xen
2.6.12.6 kernel with mostly the same configuration options, it works fine. This
happens regardless of whether or not I have xend or any domU's running.

System information:

Tyan Thunder dual Pentium III server motherboard
Two Pentium III 1Ghz processors
1GB RAM
Debian GNU/Linux testing/unstable

The changeset that I was using was from a few days earlier than this:

I'm trying to access an ADIC FastStor DLT Medium Changer with a Quantum DLT4000
tape drive, using the Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 6.2.36
and the SCSI Generic driver. Here is the dmesg output that I get for the SCSI
devices:

In summary, if I'm running under xen0, and you run /etc/init.d/bacula-sd start,
the machine instantly reboots.
