What happens if you ping the domU from dom0? What about the other way round 
(login to the console)

Do you see the vif interrupt count go up in /proc/interupts in either dom0 or 
domU?

Please can you use tcpdump -i vifX.0/eth0 in the dom0/domU respectively to find 
out where the packets are getting lost.
