[Xen-bugs] [Bug 772] New: settimeofday silently fails in a Linux domU

http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=772

Summary: settimeofday silently fails in a Linux domU
           Product: Xen
           Version: 3.0.2
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux-2.6
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P4
         Component: Guest-OS
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: robert.johnston@xxxxxxx

I've observed on a Linux domU that settimeofday returns 0, when given valid
arguments, which was a suprise. However, a subsequent call of to gettimeofday
shows is actually failed (which is expected).

Instead of silently failing, it seems it would be better if settimeofday
returned non-zero and set errno to something intuitive, like ENOTSUP.

This behavior was observed on a 32-bit Linux domU (2.6.16-xen) based on CentOS
4.2. Xen 3.0.2-2 was installed on the dom0.
