[Xen-bugs] [Bug 1095] New: Guest domain crashes with x86_64 2.6.22 kernel; related to RDTSCP?

http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1095

Summary: Guest domain crashes with x86_64 2.6.22 kernel; related
                    to RDTSCP?
           Product: Xen
           Version: unstable
          Platform: x86-64
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P2
         Component: Hypervisor
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: anders@xxxxxxxxxxx

Weâ??re running Xen 3.1 with an etch x86_64 dom0, on a dual dual-core Opteron
2216 box, and having a problem where booting a guest HVM with an x86_64 2.6.22
kernel always crashes the guest domain shortly after â??NET: Registered
protocol family 2â??. I did a git bisect on the Linux tree to figure out
exactly what kernel behavior changed to trigger this crash: the responsible
commit is c5bcb5635a03da3158f121ae20ccbbf72b4fc62a
<http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/5/1/13>, which uses RDTSCP for get_cycles_sync when
this feature is available.

How should I debug this further? If anyone can shed more light on this issue,
that would be appreciated.
