One more thing, the kernel panic only occurs when bridge=xenbr0 is set.

Just FYI, here is the result of 
$ brctl show
bridge name     bridge id               STP enabled     interfaces
eth0            8000.001cc07aae0e       no              peth0

PS : brctl show eth0 also works
