http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1719 Summary: guest boot very slowly without limit dom0 cpu number on EX Product: Xen Version: unstable Platform: Other OS/Version: Windows Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: HVM AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ReportedBy: shaohui.zheng@xxxxxxxxx Environment: ------------ Service Arch (ia32/ia32e/IA64): ia32e Guest Arch (ia32/ia32e/IA64): ia32e Guest OS Type (Linux/Windows): Linux/Windows Change Set: 22764 Hardware: WSM-EX, NHM-EX Bug detailed description: -------------------------- In WSM-EX and NHM-EX platforms, if we did not limit max vcpus number of dom0, guest will spend more time in bios before go to grub(about two minutes), it will cost 5~8 minutes to boot up a guest. If limit dom0's vcpus with "dom0_max_vcpus=2" in xen grub line, guest boot normally. Long time ago, a guest boot slow issue opened on NHM-EX and Xiaowei fix it. Reproduce steps: ---------------- 1. install Xen on EX machine 2. boot to Xen/Dom0, (no limited dom0 vcpus) 3. create guest 4. guest OS is slow to boot Current result: ---------------- Expected result: ---------------- Basic root-causing log: -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. _______________________________________________ Xen-bugs mailing list Xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-bugs
