Yes. I've done this with freenx.  

I was using it as my primary desktop for a week this way, but for the
last few weeks I've been using a dedicated machine instead.  I was
having performance problems due the xen system only being UP. I
haven't had time to test it on a SMP machine.

I think it you had a machine with just xen0, and one xenU it might
work fine. 3.0 might also improve performace on UP machines for this
config.
