   Thanks for the tip about 'make world'. I tried that but it failed 
with a message to look at ../tools/check/.chkbuild. In that file were 
these lines:
    Checking check_curl_devel
    Check for libcurl includes failed
    FAILED
All the other checks in that file were OK.
  
   As I am running Debian sarge I downloaded libcurl3-devel(7.13.2-2) 
but on an attempted installation it listed two failed dependencies:
   -libssl-dev (not installed)
   -libidn11-dev (not installed)
   Leaving aside the first one my installer (aptitude) says that 
libidn11 (installed on my machine) replaces libidn11-dev. I am not 
knowledgable in these matters and I do no want to try any install 
experiments.
  
   Again, I seem to have run into a brick wall. Have you any ideas what 
I should now do about lib_curl?
