Hi *, there are numerous mails about this xen "problem". A short abstract: On Dell PowerEdge 28XX the system freezes or locks on IO if USB is enabled in Bios. The reason behind this, is a shared irq problem, because USB and NIC shares in Bios same IRQ e.g. both 15 or 7. Bios shares some other irqs too but these seems to be not a problem... This problem occures only with XEN Kernel dom0, a "normal" distri kernel works fine... If USB is in bios disabled...all is fine... this is a /proc/interrupts with USB enabled CPU0 1: 141 Phys-irq i8042 12: 93 Phys-irq i8042 16: 161 Phys-irq uhci_hcd 18: 3917 Phys-irq uhci_hcd 19: 0 Phys-irq uhci_hcd 23: 27 Phys-irq ehci_hcd 38: 2940 Phys-irq megaraid 58: 80 Phys-irq aic7xxx 59: 30 Phys-irq aic7xxx 72: 31 Phys-irq eth0 128: 1 Dynamic-irq misdirect 129: 0 Dynamic-irq ctrl-if 130: 9832 Dynamic-irq timer 131: 0 Dynamic-irq console 132: 0 Dynamic-irq net-be-dbg NMI: 0 ERR: 0 and this with usb disabled CPU0 1: 8 Phys-irq i8042 12: 93 Phys-irq i8042 14: 264 Phys-irq ide0 16: 357354 Phys-irq uhci_hcd 38: 25038 Phys-irq megaraid 58: 80 Phys-irq aic7xxx 59: 30 Phys-irq aic7xxx 72: 212147 Phys-irq eth0 128: 1 Dynamic-irq misdirect 129: 0 Dynamic-irq ctrl-if 130: 54174 Dynamic-irq timer 131: 0 Dynamic-irq console 132: 0 Dynamic-irq net-be-dbg NMI: 0 ERR: 0 This problem is very annoying to me...because i am using an usb usv...and at the moment i must disable USB in bios to have a stable machine! Plz. could some developer contact me to investigate and fix this problem? Or is this problem known and fixed in a newer version? Currently i am using Xen 2.06 with xen Kernel 2.6.11.10 32bit cheers, daniel _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
