I'm using a > file loopback as the main disk. AFAK, the respawning too fast error is related to the consoles defined in /etc/inittab. I've commented out the folowing lines, and it stop appearing: 2:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty2 3:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty3 4:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty4 5:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty5 6:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty6 This lines are for the alternative consoles (ALT+F2, ALT+F3,etc), so there is no problem in disabling them. For the cron problems, maybe its trying to update the system time before the network is up? -- Gabriel E.
