i haven't tried it on Xen, but i think the 'special' needs of netatalk are 
related to the AppleTalk protocol over Ethernet.  you set afpd to use only 
TCP, even disable the appletalk protocol in the kernel.  these days even 
Apple makes AppleTalk optional for AppleShare.
