Using xen-ia64-unstable from hg, domU fails to mount the root fs:

VFS: Cannot open root device "sda1" or unknown-block(0,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
 XEN)

This is the configuration of the disk for domU:

disk = [ 'file:/data1/xen/dom1_disk.img,sda1,w' ]
root = "/dev/sda1 ro"

Some help would be appreciated.
