So the problem is now at least a little more succinct: the
'vif-script' isn't being run. The network-script definitely is. This
is all using the stock 3.0.2 binary distribution, and I haven't done
anything to the configuration files except adding a few debugging
lines to vif-bridge.

Has anybody else run into this?

Thanks!

Subject: [Xen-users] Virtual network interfaces not being created?
Hi there!

I'm having some trouble getting networking going with Xen. When I
first boot into the Xen kernel, I have two network interfaces (lo and
eth0), both of which are configured correctly. When I start xend,
peth0, vif0.0, and xenbr0 are added to the list. So far so good.

When I actually instantiate a domain, no new vif entries are added to
the list. If I try to bring up the interfaces from within the
instantiated domain, I get a complaint that the device (presumably
eth0 in the domU) doesn't exist, which is consistent with the new vif
not appearing in dom0.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I was thinking that it might be a
udev problem, but that should also prevent vif0.0 from coming up,
right? Has anybody seen this before or, better yet, does anybody know
what's wrong?

I'm running Ubuntu Linux 6.06 beta 2 (which is udev-based) and Xen 3.0.2.

Thanks!

-Jon
