I do not remember :-( Check the archive of this list.

BTW: this bug exists not in all Linux distros. It's known for
CentOS/RedHat but it does not exists in Mandrake/Mandriva.

In the /etc/ssh/sshd_config set UseLogin to yes and restart sshd then.
