I've got an AM2 Athlon64 X2 (it's nice) and attempting to install systems using HVM. I installed WindowsXP and that went OK. I'm now installing Ubuntu 6.06 and it's painfully slow.

The host is running Debian Etch with the included Xen packages. I've got host ram set to 512M and the system has 2G.

My config looks like this:

arch_libdir='lib64'
kernel="/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader"
builder="hvm"
name="rdapper"
#vcpus=1
memory = 512
disk    = ['phy:/dev/vg1/rdapper,ioemu:hda,w', ]
cdrom='/home/randall/ubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-amd64.iso-1'
boot='d'
on_poweroff = 'destroy'
on_reboot   = 'destroy'
on_crash    = 'destroy'
device_model = '/usr/' + arch_libdir + '/xen/bin/qemu-dm'
snapshot = 0
#soundhw='sb16'
#usb=1
sdl=1
vnc=0

Any idea why it is so slow and if anything can be done about it. It's currently formatting the hd with ext3 and is at 15% after about 10 minutes.

Randall
