This sounds like a real strange location of a disk on a xen domU.
Are you trying to use the root device as lvm volume _inside_ the domU?

Please tell us
- how did you create the domU system
- how does the disk config line in your xen config look like
- how does your kernel command line in the xen config look like
- how does your fstab on the domU system look like.
