[Xen-users] upgrading from linux-image-2.6.16-2 2.6.16-13bpo1 failes

Dear list,

I'm running a few xen boxes, with Sarge and some stuff from
backports.org (e.g. xen).

I've three systems: a P4-2.8 (i686), a Pd-920 (em64t), a X2 (amd64)
that work fine with:

- xen-3.0 3.0.2+hg9697-0bpo1 (amd64 and i386)
- linux-2.6 2.6.16-13bpo1 (amd64-k8 em64t-p4 i686)

but when i update the linux-image / linux-modules to 2.6.16-18~bpo.1 or
2.6.17-9~bpo.1 the xen ilinuxkernel stops to boot (the normal and
vserver kernel work fine).

Xen would boot till

...
(XEN) Scrubbing Free RAM: .....................done.
(XEN) Xen trace buffers: disabled

but instead of printing

(XEN) *** Serial input -> DOM0 (type 'CTRL-a' three times to switch
input to Xen).

the box(es) will sit there and reboot after about 5sec.

Is anyone using a linux-image > 2.6.16-2-..._2.6.16-13bpo1?

Thanks,
    Goetz.

PS: None of the boxes is fitted with a serial console, but I can add one
if necessary. And the P4 and the X2 are used in production so I
would not like to reboot them "just to test something".
