[Xen-users] greyed-out enabled "vanderpool" setting in bios

Hello,

researching the asus P5B-VM motherboard, I saw in their support forums
that a user reports there is a "Vanderpool" setting in the CPU menu. It
is set to "enabled", however it is greyed out.

Other messages in xen-users suggest that the BIOS says "virtualization
extensions [enable/disable]

Can anyone comment??? Has anyone seen anything like this??? Has anyone
seen it greyed out "enabled" in the BIOS where it was NOT
working/supported???

Complete forum messages (http://vip.asus.com/forum/default.aspx?
SLanguage=en-us) are below:

Does the P5B-VM support VT (aka IVT aka Intel Virtualization Technology
aka Vanderpool)? At least, an according BIOS option should appear if the
board is equipped with a VT-enabled CPU like a Core 2 Duo. I'd like to
know before i buy ...

Aha, so that's Vanderpool. I was wondering what that was. (Could have
Googled but I forgot to do so :) ). Anyway, I have an Intel Conroe E6700
and my BIOS (v0405) does have a "Vanderpool" setting in the CPU menu. It
is set to "enabled", however it is greyed out. I don't know if that
means that Vanderpool is not active or that it is enabled and you are
just not allowed to change it. I'm guessing the latter, which would mean
the P5B-VM supports VT. But I wouldn't put any money on my guesses. ;)
