I always have to post to a mailing list before I can discover for myself
the cause of the problem. Otherwise I would never get anything done. :)

I know you have to set the bridge interface to "up" but I had been using:

/sbin/ip link set up dev aoebr

just like I do with my normal ethernet interfaces. But it turns out that
wasn't working for the bridge.

/sbin/ip link set aoebr up

is what is required.

Now AoE and bridging are working perfectly. :)
