  • Thread-topic: What network model to use?

I would like to find out what is the network model (pcnet, ne2k_pci, etc) to use in the configuration file.

I have the following setup

NIC: Intel 10/100 or Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708.

Processor: Intel Woodcrest

Xen: 3.0.3

Xen OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 3. x86_64.

Guest OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 3. x86_64.

If I do not specify model for vif, xen pick RealTek 8139 as the NIC and the network will NOT work. If I specified model as pcnet, then everything worked just fine. However, if I reboot the guest OS, xen pick RealTek 8139 as NIC again and the kudzu just ask me to reconfigure the NIC again. If I just delete the Guest OS instance, then re-create the guest OS, then the pcnet will be picked.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Sam
