Yes, that was the one and only problem.
I created an initial ramdisk:

mkinitrd -f --with=ext3 --preload=ext3 --with=xennet --builtin=aic7xxx
--builtin=serverworks --preload=xenblk --omit-raid-modules
--omit-lvm-modules --fstab=/mnt/etc/fstab /boot/xen-initrd.img
<my_kernel_version>

Now everything works perfectly!
