  • Thread-topic: getting a disk file to SR, mount SR-disk, maintenance

dear list,

i'm new in working with xen and want to setup a vm from an existing disk image
(disk-file from other xen host).

1) i'vn got much disk space on system disk and want do copy the xen-disk image
directly to storage repository (where is enough free space)

I've thought:
* mounting disk-file over nfs from other server. (like other iso's)
* creating a new vm in management-interface to getting the device & mapping
infos to SR
* making a dd if=/nfsvol/diskimg of=/dev/mapper/VG_XenSxxxx.disk

have you got any ideas? whats the best way to do this?

2) how can i mount an SR- disk (/dev/mapper/VG_XenS..sda) on the xen server
dom0?

3) maintenance: is there a way for onlinebackup?, or any scripts für shutdown,
clone, start - commands? where can i find additional infos about such
maintenance jobs?

regards from austria,
josy
