Chris, what is your config in detail? MB,CPU,RAM,VGA, RAM setting in bios? I hadn't realized that this was the case - it makes it a bit more suspicious that Xen is at fault, but it could simply be that the timing/memory usage is different and causing the problem. I've seen more than one case of complaints to AMD tech support saying that "My processor works fine with OS A, but fails when I use OS B" (A and B usually Windows and Linux in some combination, but also different varieties of Windows or Linux builds). In some of these cases, it turns out that the processor is actually faulty on a particular usage pattern. More frequently, it's the fact that some OS's use more power than others and thus generating more heat and needing a better heatsink/fan, or a better power supply. I've seen HVM guests fail memtest86 when the entire machine running memtest86 doesn't show any problems. -- Mats > > Chris. > > > > > -- > > Mats > > > > -- > > Mats > > > > > > Any thoughts? > > > > > > Chris. > > > > > > > > > On 6/22/07, Chris Fanning <christopher.fanning@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > Well, the news isn't so good. > > > > This morning I booted the machine and it froze with > > > > ACPI Exeption (acpi_processor_o681) :AE_NOT_FOUND, > > > Processor Device is > > > > not present [20060707] > > > > ACPI Getting cpuindex for acpi 0x3 > > > > > > > > grr. > > > > > > > > I hit the reset button and it gets a little further and > fails at: > > > > ata1: SATA link up 3,0 Gpb (SStatus 123 Scontrol 200) > > > > ata1: qc timeout (cmd 0xec) > > > > ata1: failed to identify (I/0 error, err_mask = 0x0104) > > > > ata1: port is slow to resond, please be patient > > > > ata1: failes to respond (30 secs) > > > > ata1: COMRESET failed, device not ready > > > > ata1: hardreset failded > > > > > > > > Exactly the same as it did with the xen3.1 I compiled by hand. > > > > > > > > So, the 2.6.18-4 kernel that comes with the debian xen > > > package hasn't > > > > solved the issue. > > > > > > > > > > It's a common problem with Xen that it doesn't support > > > new hardware (e.g., > > > > > > 965 boards) very well.
