I'm running on a Dell PowerEdge 2970 with two dual core Opteron processors, on which I have installed Debian Etch for x86_64 (amd64). I'm using xen 3.1.0, which I compiled from a source tarball downloaded from www.xensource.com, and which seems to have been created on May 18. The kernel which this creates works, but I have a difficulty getting certain other software working with it, so I am instead using Debian's own linux-image-2.6.18-4-xen-amd64, version 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2, which does not have this problem. I can easily create a virtual host using the same kernel and using Debian etch as well. My problem is that I can't start up a domain using a 32-bit kernel, for example, Debian's linux-image-2.6.18-4-xen-686 version 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12. When I try this, the domain creation fails. The Xend.log has the message: [2007-07-11 08:30:52 3061] WARNING (__init__:1072) Domain has crashed: and the console of the domain contains a long series of messages, beginning and ending thus: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 98b7dce8 ... <0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt Isn't xen 3.1 able to run mixed architecture domUs? Do we need a special option in the config file to do this? -- Owen _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
