Maybe relevent too..  here's the output of udevmonitor while attempting to start the domU:

All the add@* and online@* lines show up as soon as you launch the "xm start" command.
the offline@* and remove@* lines show up after 30 seconds when the domU is giving up the ghost.



udevmonitor prints the received event from the kernel [UEVENT]
and the event which udev sends out after rule processing [UDEV]
