You could try to do the same with a pure qemu.

You could try phy:/dev/sda,hda,w 
as i remember some cases when the /dev/ couldnt be left out.
Otherwise i did the same thing already with an sda sata-thing,
could only think that the t60 is doing something special that
qemu as used in xen cant cope with.
