hi,

i've xen distro-installed on a centos51 Dom0 host,

        yum list | grep xen
                kernel-xen.x86_64          2.6.18-53.1.4.el5      installed
                xen.x86_64                 3.0.3-41.el5           installed
                xen-libs.x86_64            3.0.3-41.el5           installed

the cpu is an hvm-capable, amd64 x2.

i'm attempting to setup a DomU guest ("test") using 'xm'. using
"bootproto=dhcp" works; using "bootproto=static" fails for me.

clearly, I've misconfigured something network-y -- i'm guessing
bridging -- but i'm unclear as to what. maybe centos? maybe need a
newer version of xen?

any hints are appreciated, thanks!

relevant details follow:

for an xmdomain config using "bootproto=dhcp",

  cat /etc/xen/test
        name         = "test"

        kernel        = "/root/xen/kerns/centos51/vmlinuz"
        ramdisk       = "/root/xen/kerns/centos51/initrd.img"

        disk         = [
'phy:/dev/VGDomU/test,xvda,w','file:/root/xen/test/installer.iso,hdc:cdrom,r'
]
        extra        = "lang=en_US.UTF-8 keyboard=us
timezone=America/New_York bootproto=dhcp
method=http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.1/os/x86_64";
        maxmem       = 256
        memory       = 256
        vcpus        = 1
        nic          = 1

        on_poweroff  = "destroy"
        on_reboot    = "restart"
        on_crash     = "restart"
        vfb          = ['']
        vif          = [ "mac=aa:cc:00:00:00:01,bridge=xenbr0" ]
        boot         = 'd'
        vnc          = 1

@console i see

        "Retrieving images/minstg2.img ..."

then,

        "Welcome to CentOS"

and, from there, the install proceeds to completion.

but if i try "bootproto=static", changing

  cat /etc/xen/test
        ...
        extra        = "lang=en_US.UTF-8 keyboard=us
timezone=America/New_York bootproto=static ip=10.0.0.100
gateway=10.0.0.1 nameserver=10.0.0.1
method=http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.1/os/x86_64";
        ...

setup hangs @,

        "Unable to retrieve http://.../images/minstg2.img.";

and goes no further.
