Now I can see the free space, but I cant extend the LV

[root@boldtsamqa ~]# pvresize --setphysicalvolumesize 8GB /dev/xvda2

Any ideas?

what does /proc/partitions say?  the old size?

if it's the new size, then you need to do a pvresize so that the LVM
system gets it.

if it's the old size, something's fishy...
