Is that a typo? Did you mean 'xenvg-VM1-swap' instead of 'xenvg-VM1 --swap' 
(with a space and two dashes)?

Also, if you are using pygrub, instead of kernel/ramdisk, we will need to see 
your domu's grub.conf also.
