Hi Paul,
unfortunately I already know the "ethtool -K eth0 tx off"-trick and
afaik this only helps if the whole network traffic is low and not just
the traffic from the DomU, out to the rest of LAN. Anyway, I already
tried it out but there was no effect :(

I'll do what Thomas has recommended and use Debian instead of Ubuntu.
