Can you post the full boot log, or dmesg, in particular look for a
line similar to

"Xen virtual console successfully installed as xvc0"

and look for that console in /etc/inittab?

probably there's a mixup in where inittab thinks the console is
(usually tty1 by default) and where the console is REALLY at (ttyS0,
xvc0, or hvc0)
