Re: [Xen-users] Newbie to XEN and Installation advice!

Hi,

well, you should use the Ubuntu packaged version of Xen ; you will not have to compile anything.

On Debian Lenny I do :| aptitude install xen-hypervisor xen-tools xen-utils ||linux-image-2.6-xen-amd64|

|For your Ubuntu, just replace this kernel by an other : aptitude search
'linux-image.*xen'
|

Then you will have to create image with xen-tools (xen-create-image).

Hi,
I'm newbie to Xen but not to Linux..... I need Xen for some tests on 'Cloud infrastructure'; my OS is Ubuntu 8.10 and my architecture 32 bit (core2duo-- 3GB RAM, 160GB HDD). I was wondering where to get Xen for Ubuntu, which manual should I follow etc. I tried this link (http://www.virtuatopia.com/index.php/Main_Page) but am confused which one to use & download what package? Searching on Xen own site (http://tx.downloads.xensource.com/downloads/docs/user/#SECTION02100000000000000000 ) didn't helped me that much.... Also tried this link (http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-xen-3.3-with-kernel-2.6.27-on-ubuntu-8.10-x86_64 ) but at the end I came to know this is for 64bit i.e Kernel 2.6.27 On Ubuntu 8.10 (x86_64);and thats why my build process failed. Thanks for help and guidence in Advance! -Jan Muhammad
