And the answer is no, no you cannot.

That's not true.   I've got 32-bit and 64-bit domU's running on OracleVM which has a 32-bit dom0.  Unfortunately I don't have a spare machine to put Xen 3.3 but I believe that it's there as well, and if not there, in 3.4.  Or something :-)
