RE: [Xen-users] flat file system as disk

Thanks for the reply, however,

I'm getting this while changed to file-system..

switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

========
kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.1.14.el5xen"
ramdisk = "/opt/pallab/initrd-2.6.18-128.1.14.el5xen-no-scsi.img"
memory = 1024
name = "centos"
vif = [ 'mac=00:16:3e:21:f1:31,bridge=eth0' ]
dhcp = "dhcp"
disk = ['tap:aio:/tmp/pallab,sda1,w', 'phy:/dev/xen_vg/lv-swap,sda2,w' ]
root = "/dev/sda1 ro"
============

but the image works well with:

========
kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.1.14.el5xen"
ramdisk = "/opt/pallab/initrd-2.6.18-128.1.14.el5xen-no-scsi.img"
memory = 1024
name = "centos"
vif = [ 'mac=00:16:3e:21:f1:31,bridge=eth0' ]
dhcp = "dhcp"
disk = ['tap:aio:/tmp/centos.img,sda1,w', 'phy:/dev/xen_vg/lv-swap,sda2,w'
]
root = "/dev/sda1 ro"
============

Pls advice,

- regards

It's doable, with some caveats:
- consistency-wise, file: is not recommended. You should use tap:aio:
- mapping as sda1 instead of sda means you need to use templates (like
from jailtime.org). You won't be abe to use installer (like with
virt-manager).
- I/O performance will be slower compared to block-based vbd using phy:/
