Subject: [Xen-users] a few questions about configuring xen 3.4.1 on
OpenSuse 11.1 x86
Hello all:
I started playing with Xen over the last couple of weeks and
I have successfully got a windows 7 HVM running from the OpenSUSE 11.1 Xen
3.4.1 package. I would like to know if it is possible to do a couple of things:
First: I’ve seen some of the youtube videos posted by the
user Teo En Ming on 3D acceleration. I am not really concerned with that, but I
noticed in the video he is logging in directly to a xen guest from the console.
The customization work that guy did aside, is there a way to set up xen to do
this? I’d like the ability to choose a configuration from the GRUB boot screen
and then have some scripts run to start up xen, dom0, and my domU, then present
the domU’s graphics (windows) to the screen. Is this possible in XCI perhaps?
Do I have to try to figure out how to pass my VGA card to my DomU? If that’s
the case, I am running on a machine that has Intel’s VT-X and VT-D chipsets.
Second (probably simpler): I’d like to write/run a script
that restores a domU to a “gold” state from a snapshot when it shuts down. Any
guidance on this?
Anyone that has insight or advice would be extremely
appreciated.
