Re: [Xen-users] XCP node fail / network fail of node auto restart vm

The vm watchdog is only half the solution for a failed cloud host. It's not as simple as just restarting the vm's, you have to make the judgment that the host is gone and it's not coming back, then reset the power state of all vm's that were running on that host to halted before you can restart the vm's.

Ok thans for that info,
So if i would like to create something small myself i should have some kind of keep alive checker, + a handler that can boots vm's? Maby with Nagios..

I checked out your tool (the watchdog) but this won't work if a network cable get's disconnected from a node right?

ÂÂ There's no HA functionality in XCP (it's only usable in the paid for commercial versions as far as I know). Keep an eye out for my vm and host watchdogs coming out to do this :).

Hey and thanks for reading,

So i was looking at the following setting: xe vm-param-set uuid=308662ad-7544-e5bc-fea0-a2d2b7e9dea8 ha-always-run=true
and i figured that, when the node/host crashed (with like, network failure or something else making the vm unreachable) it would be restarted on another node..

Is this correct, or is this just a setting that after a reboot of the node, the vm gets booted again?

Thanks,
Peter
