Thanks Dave, the CD was the issue, I created a new one and it runs now.

That sounds strange. Could you double-check your download is
intact by comparing the md5sum with the one on the website?
If the CD is intact then it sounds like the installer couldn’t
detect your CDROM drive properly. What kind of hardware have you got?

Hello Group
I am very eager to take the XCP for a test drive. while installing I am
prompted for the repository location and when I choose local media, the
installation keeps failing with an error that the repository could not be
found.
Am using the main.iso downloaded from the xen site.
any help please
