Hi Jon,

 I used the "debian-40r8-etchnhalf-i386-netinst.iso" for the VM installation. And this is the "uname -a" output:
Linux xcp-vm-debian 2.6.32-4-686-bigmem #1 SMP Mon Jun 28 19:06:40 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

What type of guest are you trying to install the tools into?
