As an alternative test for now you could get the config here
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/xen/
and update the config to point to a new raw disk.img (change it from
hda1!) then do xm create -c xm-debian.cfg install
Just to see if it works.
