You may  read about ballooning in VMware. A document is here
http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/perf-vsphere-memory_management.pdf

I use XEN 4.1.2 and build domain-0 and a virtual machine in HVM mode both with kernel 3.0.23. When I boot the VM with "xm create.... " at the terminal. I see in xend.log
messages  about ballooning and some free pages reclaim by XEN. I think these pages belong to domain-0 because message is "Balloon: setting dom0 target to 1857 MiB." .
Has anyone ever used the ballooning to free unused pages in XEN's
 Domain U HVM ?
How can call ballooning while
Domain-U HVM is running to reclaim its free pages to XEN.
Any guidance will useful.
