This issue seems to persist in 10-curent, and beta-1, I guess it was never 
fixed...?

I was testing with 10-current and Beta-1 and still have the issue, also in 
these version XENPV support is enabled by default in GENERIC, so one has to 
recompile to work at least just in HVM without PV.
Seems to be a bad idea to me if things are still not 100% stable, but 
that's a subject for another list!
