Hi, I have a fresh install of Debian8.7 on a Dell PowerEdge T430 machine with packaged Xen 4.4: # dpkg -l xen-system-amd64 ... ii xen-system-amd64 4.4.1-9+deb8u8 amd64 Xen System on AMD64 (meta-package) I am successfully using UEFI booting. The problem is that rebooting or halting Dom0 does not work - after the reboot/halt sequence finishes, the screen freezes and nothing else happens (I have to hold the power button to actually shut the machine down). An interesting exception is however if I turn the machine off by pressing the power button, the system shuts down correctly. When booting without xen there are no issues. I have tried to pass various boot parameters to both xen and the kernel, but nothing helped. Most sources that I found recommend setting the reboot=... parameter, I tried efi, acpi, pci, kbd both on the xen and the kernel command line (and some combinations). I also tried efi=no-rs (I've read somewhere that it fixed some UEFI/ACPI related problem for someone) without any result. (I am not sure if reboot should be handled by xen or Dom0.) I compared the dmesg of booting with and without xen, but I couldn't spot anything out of ordinary. What else can I try? Thank you in advance, Marton # cat /boot/efi/EFI/Xen/xen.cfg [global] default=xen [xen] options=dom0_mem=512M kernel=vmlinuz-3.16.0-4-amd64 root=UUID=... ro quiet acpi_rsdp=0x000000007BAB6014 ramdisk=initrd.img-3.16.0-4-amd64 # xl dmesg (XEN) Xen version 4.4.1 (Debian 4.4.1-9+deb8u8) (carnil@xxxxxxxxxx) (gcc (Debian 4.9.2-10) 4.9.2) debug=n Wed Dec 7 06:03:38 UTC 2016 (XEN) Bootloader: EFI (XEN) Command line: dom0_mem=512M (XEN) Video information: (XEN) VGA is graphics mode 1920x1200, 32 bpp (XEN) Disc information: (XEN) Found 0 MBR signatures (XEN) Found 2 EDD information structures (XEN) EFI RAM map: (XEN) 0000000000000000 - 00000000000a0000 (usable) (XEN) 0000000000100000 - 000000007a089000 (usable) (XEN) 000000007a089000 - 000000007af0b000 (reserved) (XEN) 000000007af0b000 - 000000007b93b000 (ACPI NVS) (XEN) 000000007b93b000 - 000000007bab7000 (ACPI data) (XEN) 000000007bab7000 - 000000007bae9000 (usable) (XEN) 000000007bae9000 - 000000007baff000 (ACPI data) (XEN) 000000007baff000 - 000000007bb00000 (usable) (XEN) 0000000080000000 - 0000000090000000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000feda8000 - 00000000fedac000 (reserved) (XEN) 00000000ff310000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) (XEN) 0000000100000000 - 0000000880000000 (usable) (XEN) ACPI: RSDP 7BAB6014, 0024 (r2 DELL ) (XEN) ACPI: XSDT 7BAF9188, 00CC (r1 DELL PE_SC3 0 1000013) (XEN) ACPI: FACP 7BAAF000, 00F4 (r4 DELL PE_SC3 0 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: DSDT 7BA99000, E429 (r2 DELL PE_SC3 3 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: FACS 7B90A000, 0040 (XEN) ACPI: MCEJ 7BAB4000, 0130 (r1 INTEL 1 INTL 100000D) (XEN) ACPI: SSDT 7BAB3000, 03C6 (r2 DELL Tpm2Tabl 1000 INTL 20121114) (XEN) ACPI: TPM2 7BAB2000, 0038 (r4 DELL EDK2 2 1000013) (XEN) ACPI: WD__ 7BAB1000, 0134 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: SLIC 7BAB0000, 0024 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: HPET 7BAAE000, 0038 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: APIC 7BAAD000, 0AFC (r2 DELL PE_SC3 0 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: MCFG 7BAAC000, 003C (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: MSCT 7BAAB000, 0090 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: SLIT 7BAAA000, 006C (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: SRAT 7BAA8000, 1130 (r3 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: SSDT 7B956000, 1424A9 (r2 DELL PE_SC3 4000 INTL 20121114) (XEN) ACPI: SSDT 7B953000, 2198 (r2 DELL PE_SC3 2 INTL 20121114) (XEN) ACPI: SSDT 7B952000, 006E (r2 DELL PE_SC3 2 INTL 20121114) (XEN) ACPI: PRAD 7B951000, 0132 (r2 DELL PE_SC3 2 INTL 20121114) (XEN) ACPI: DMAR 7BAFE000, 0078 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 1 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: HEST 7BAFD000, 017C (r1 DELL PE_SC3 2 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: BERT 7BAFC000, 0030 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 2 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: ERST 7BAFB000, 0230 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 2 DELL 1) (XEN) ACPI: EINJ 7BAFA000, 0150 (r1 DELL PE_SC3 2 DELL 1) (XEN) System RAM: 32672MB (33456496kB) (XEN) Domain heap initialised (XEN) Couldn't initialize a 1920x1200 framebuffer early.
