See for instance blkfront.c:

dev->ring_ref = gnttab_grant_access(dev->dom,virt_to_mfn(s),0);

it then writes it to xenstore:

err = xenbus_printf(xbt, nodename, "ring-ref","%u", dev->ring_ref);

and at the end, ends access:

gnttab_end_access(dev->ring_ref);


and for the mapping part, see tpmback.c:

page = gntmap_map_grant_refs(&gtpmdev.map, 1, &domid, 0, &ringref, PROT_READ | PROT_WRITE)

and

gntmap_munmap(&gtpmdev.map, (unsigned long)tpmif->page, 1);
