If someone else with a Cubie wants to try it out, this is a good time. Just grab an Ubuntu 14.04 container or machine, run the above commands, and dd the cubie.img onto an SDcard. You can ssh into the Cubie with username/password "linaro" and alter it. No serial console should be required now unless something goes wrong. I did a quick test of MiniOS and that boots fine, and will give FreeBSD a quick spin tomorrow.
