I don't think subcommands help here you are only allowed one subcommand per 
invocation and IIUC this is to be specified in a single invocation no ?  

Note that this particular aspect doesn't seem to be a problem with cmdliner 
itself. But rather how in general to express a configuration tree a set of 
command line options.
